post tramtic stress disorder yelribbon.gif yellow ribbon image by _mamabird

"More than 6,200 veterans committed suicide in 2005 alone -- that's 120
veterans a week. Trained service dogs can help.PTSD National service dogs
are tasked specifically for veterans with PTSD . They promote
independent living, alleviate stress, can help reduce the frequency of medical
visits, and significantly decrease symptoms of anxiety. Trained service dogs
are an opportunity for veterans to combat suicide by regaining much needed
peace, dignity, and joy in their lives. Read more to find out how your
strong support can help connect a service dog to a veteran." (5.2 million veterans diagnosed with ptsd. Mulitply that by 4. It affects family, friends, co-workers and communities) The tremor effects and its magnitude can rock inside like an earthquake and underlying effect can have catrosophical effect and aftermath around
each one of us, which is unpleasant. A service dog for veterans can reduce those symptoms and unpleasant magnitude.

I
This space is under continuous change as it progresses because I am inspired by other veterans. I have been finding inside of myself my own issues that lie deep within inside the PTSD of my own, that some of the veterans have helped me thru those stages that I felt were not even there. Some of the veterans here on this veteran benefit network might not even be aware how they have helped me. Their statements, of "PTSD is no Farce" is in deed true and other statements written in this are far true and " Avoiding people and confrontations as well." What I have found in this space is tremendous support. What does "non profit" mean to this space ? It means someone with PTSD who is CHRONIC is building this foundation and those around are helping build it out of strong support. It is called strong support and therefor nonprofit. It means I am a veteran healing thru this process with CHRONIC ptsd of my own and getting the support I need thru others and veterans, non profit. No monetary value. But then if it is said that, forms need to filled out. So then it becomes legal issues according to the world out there. We are veterans helping each other and finding sources that help each other who care. I wasnt sure how this was going to happen. I did not set out to do this. It all just happend out of a bad PTSD moment. An episode that has been expelling decades that has only been building over time to erupt. I pursued what I felt I needed. The strong support was there when I needed it. The VA listened , addressing and and now the VA is taking care of it and hopefully this path will continue as the first path has been made. The first dog (which I dont call him a dog, I want to call him something better) he is more than a dog. He is a special something. He came to my rescue and it goes beyond that. Litterally , as this unfolds, the service dog came to my rescue and is recovering me from this HORRIBLE expirence of PTSD daily living of PTSD. Strong support came with it. It is up to the veteran.
This is about strong support and healing. Nothing else. There isnt enough money to repair the damages of result of PTSD. I am living evidence of that. This is non profit because we are not making monetary value - it is because we are making a healing process. But one wouldnt know that termonology unless they knew or not informed. And again this is being built by PTSD veterans regaining lives.
"100% Total occupational and social impairment, due to
such symptoms as: gross impairment in thought
processes or communication; persistent delusions
or hallucinations; grossly inappropriate behavior;
persistent danger of hurting self or others;
intermittent inability to perform activities of
daily living (including maintenance of minimal
personal hygiene); disorientation to time or
place; memory loss for names of close relatives,
own occupation, or own name" Authors of these topics as well as "Relationship" issues and "Denying PTSD". Stigma is attatched ; we then become detatched. I was diagnosed 11 yrs ago with this thing called PTSD ( post tramatic stress disorder) . It wasnt me or my fault- it was everyone elses. I was living a life of a "Dr Jackle and Ms Hyde". Everyone around me was being affected by it and deeply wounded by the cut I had going on inside- that was deep. So deep I couldnt even talk about it. To this day I still dont. That doesnt change even if I did. Ptsd is ptsd- no matter how one gets it- it is the same symptoms. What matters is the treatment.
Family and spouses are critical in this role. Their backbone and their strength and courage are most vital. The veteran needs strength. The families need the guidance and support. Strong support from all around- 24/7 matters. What is around us matters.
My own family has suffered out of PTSD, relationships and marital problems, the stigmas, careers damaged, jobs- unable to cope, nightmares and intrusive images and flashbacks and spiraled outcome as a result of years of ptsd and denial, symptoms untreated and denial stages , at no ones fault. Just part of the "beast". PTSD spread like a lethal injection of poison into the lives of others that manifest quietly- deeply- penitrating -vigurously feeling like shrapenal inside the skin. It goes so deep- it feels like its going to explode and when it does, its like a bomb - goes off anytime it wants to. Unpredictable. Unable to see warning signs in some cases. It does spread like wildfire, if untreated - and even treated. Magnitude can be significant. There isnt enough money given to a veteran to repair the damages that have shaken the life of a veteran or his/her families. That isnt to say it isnt enough. It is to say a veteran is taken care of. But there is hope, however. On the news and media and strong support for medical proffessons they are trying to remove the stigmas that are out there revolving PTSD are far more out weighed and unexplainable. Something needs to be done - about stigma that is attatched to those things. They revolve in families, communities and coworkers. I write this as I get thru my own daily struggles of my own ptsd and every day I have hopes it does go away, that hope- even to keep it under control. And I want to Thank you all those who have been of encourgement to me and strong support. Thank you most. http://www.veteransforcommonsense.org/articleid/10897 Thank You ~

clipart Post tramatic stress disorder affects familes/friends/co-workers and communities. It rocks inside like an earthquake and the aftermath has tremor affect that is unpleasant. What can we do about it. Intervention. Supply with counselors, doctors, and strong support 24/7 that is much needed in communities and beyond. It starts within. A lethal injection of a service dog .To assasinate some of those symptoms and to lower the anxities that flow. A PTSD service dog , or which ever one wants to call him/her at his/her side is an intervention program that elivates those deep embeded symptoms of ptsd. Which some are too deep to explore. Only a k-9 with a deep sense would know it. Some k-9 ;s have true abilities to know first hand such instincts over human. We all know many rescue dogs are capable of such things. Bomb squad ect and search and rescue. Service dogs have been around for sometime now and ADA and Fair housing certainly are ahead of us. VA drs signed for my service dog. This is good news. Only one would encounter goverment encounter of refusal in a public establishment to turn down a veterans service dog issued out by a VA- for a veteran. HUD and ADA backs this up.
What this is intended for is I have written congressman of montana, govener of montana, and the Senator of Montana. What is the proposal - "Specialized Medical Equipment" issued of prosthetics department of the VA system and that it become part of the VA branch system. Perhaps this stigma disapear in the process.!
That in the process, the service dog is allowed to be accompanied into public to lower the anxities of the veteran and assist the veteran into public. The response I have gotten myself as a veteran from public in general is very supportive. 99% of the people I encounter is gladly accepting me and my service dog into the public. Buses, post offices. banks. hospitals, drs appointments, grocery stores, and especially my dr appts. The staff at the medical VA esepecially welcome him at my hospital stay I had inpatient stay four days- my service dog was with me- the staff treated me very well. Ive been treated very well- with my service dog-I have gotten out much more than I used to and travel more feeling safe and secure- that feeling alone- is -powerful for me. Independant means of living. I have interest in previous hobbies that I one time had prior to tramas- and have passion that I hadnt before. Having an interest in life.
There is that one small percentage out there- however that we are aware of that is being addressed -the stigma that exsists, that can become lager than the 99%- for a moment. But with that strong support that exsists to remove the stigma of the low 1% to be dealt with- in time- it will be over riden. Both in remedies, monetary values and educated ways. That very small 1% is uneducated. They will be dealt with thru the civil matters- of civil rights- of discrimination laws. That is how this stigma gets removed.
At any rate, I do appreciate you looking into this website. Alot of my life has changed since I got my service dog fully into my life as of June 30, 2008. I have picked up a bridge of my life that I have long missed, and the service dog is my bridge to that life.
I hope this brings hope for someone else as it has for me. Or inspires another veteran is what this is about. The ultimate goal is, that the Veteran administran issue Veteran service dogs for veterans for this issue.

Imagine PTSD like a a set of fireworks. You set one off and the others following in a chain. So PTSD when set off fires up the other syndromes related to it. e. g., depression, anxiety, sleep and appetite disturbance and so on. At some point the chain reaction fizzles and the end result is an implosion that causes a person to retreat into themselves. PTSD is such a devastating disorder that most people fail to see the depth and gravity of it. PTSD is the mental health version of cancer. It occurs, spreads, and literally eats the person alive. PTSD causes emotional bankruptcy and fuels all the negative things in the mind to set off this chain reaction. The unfortunate side effect of this reaction is explosives consume themselves while PTSD is a continuous and ongoing consumption of the human psyche.

Anniversary dates are very common for veterans suffering from PTSD. anniversary dates tend to follow specific patterns and develop or manifest anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month from that particular date.

The key issue to an anniversary situation is how extreme is the effect and how it plays in the current life situation of the veteran. PTSD is a memory-based disorder and simply having PTSD is not sufficient enough to call it that. One must have traumatic events to make the PTSD issue alive and well. Recollections of the event, feelings of still participating in them, flashbacks, reliving experiences, and anniversary dates cause the reactions that PTSD is famous for. PTSD is not a biological disorder. It is a syndrome caused by memory. That is why PTSD is so intractable and will never leave the mind. It may diminish in power, but the right trigger at the wrong time will make that diminished memory become extremely intense.

In the history of DSM there's never been a disorder that has generated so much controversy as PTSD. Nor has there been a disorder of any kind that is connected to so many other disorders in its own unique fashion. PTSD is an equal opportunity disorder. It cares little if your White, Black, Hispanic or any other race. It does not care if your rich or poor, educated or not, or what nationality you are. It is the a memory-based disorder of which there are only 2 in DSM, and it is the Mother of All Disorders you will ever encounter. NOTHING you could have or ever encounter in the future will be as bad as PTSD. " quote veteran of VBN Patrick
